Postdoctoral Position: Marine Robotics

Coordination of Teams of Unmanned Aerial, Surface, and Underwater Vehicles

Multi-Robot Systems Group (MRS), Czech Technical University in Prague

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in marine and aerial robotics to work on coordination and planning of heterogeneous robotic teams. The research will focus on the reliable deployment of USVs, UUVs, and UAVs in unknown, real-world environments.

Job Description

  • Fundamental research in coordination and planning of heterogeneous robotic teams.
  • Involvement in application-oriented projects driven by real-world impact.
  • Supervising and co-supervising a team of 3–6 PhD and Master’s students.
  • Collaboration with a dedicated team of hardware engineers maintaining a large robotic fleet.

Eligibility Criteria

Experience:

  • PhD degree (completed or close to defense).
  • Max 8 years of research experience after PhD.
  • Experience in marine robotics (surface or underwater vehicles).
  • Strong publication record in top-tier venues (RSS, ICRA, IROS, Q1–Q2 journals).

Mobility:

  • Applicants must not have resided or worked in the Czech Republic for more than 12 months within the last 3 years.

Required Skills

  • PhD in Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong interest in mathematics, programming, and abstract thinking.
  • Experience with ROS, Gazebo, and Git.
  • Ability to design and implement complex algorithms efficiently.
