Postdoctoral Position: Machine Learning for robotics

Research of machine learning approaches for sensor data processing, sensor fusion and robotics algorithms.

Multi-Robot Systems Group (MRS), Czech Technical University in Prague

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for machine learning aimed at mobile robotics. Machine learning is nowadays part of many parts of a mobile robot autonomy stack: sensor preprocessing, sensor fusion, mapping, localization and many others. We are strongly focused on developing systems that run onboard a mobile robot in real time.

Job Description

  • Fundamental research in machine learning related to mobile robotics applications.
  • Involvement in application-oriented projects driven by real-world impact.
  • Supervising and co-supervising a team of 3–6 PhD and Master’s students.
  • Collaboration with a dedicated team of hardware engineers in maintaining specialized UAVs dedicated to real-world experiments.

Eligibility Criteria

Experience:

  • PhD degree (completed or close to defense).
  • Max 8 years of research experience after PhD.
  • Experience with modern machine learning (LLMs, VLMs).
  • Strong publication record in top-tier venues (RSS, ICRA, IROS, Q1–Q2 journals).

Required Skills

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning or a related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong interest in mathematics, programming, and abstract thinking.
  • Experience with Linux OS, Git, ML toolboxes (pytorch, tensorflow).
  • Ability to design and implement complex algorithms efficiently.

What we offer

  • Highly competitive salary (approx. double the national average).
  • Family allowance for applicants with dependent family members.
  • Travel support for conferences and research budget.
  • Work in a world-class group (Winner of MBZIRC, DARPA SubT Challenge).
